What is IBPS RRB PO exam?

  • The IBPS RRB PO or the IBPS RRB Officer Scale I exam is conducted to appoint candidates at officer post in the various Regional Rural Banks of the country. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection is the conducting body for all IBPS exams including the IBPS RRB PO exam.
 

IBPS RRB PO Eligibility

There are a set of eligibility requirements that are mentioned by the conducting body in the official notification which need to be fulfilled by every applicant if they want to apply for the exam. Age Limit:- The candidates should fulfill the upper and lower age limits without fail.

  Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India, subject of Nepal or Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee   Educational Qualification:
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in any of the streams from a recognized University is needed. But first preference is for the candidates possessing a degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Information Technology, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Management, Pisciculture, Law, Accountancy or Economics.
  • Local language proficiency.
  • Basic computer Working knowledge.
  • For this post also, work experience is not necessary.
 

IBPS RRB PO Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The Exam Pattern for IBPS RRB PO consists of the following stages: (1) Prelims Stage (2) Mains Stage (3) Interview Phase  

IBPS RRB Officer Scale I (PO) : Prelims Exam Pattern

  • Total marks 80, covered by two sections.
  • No sectional timing.
  • Negative marks – 0.25 for each wrong answer.
Both sectional cut-off and overall cut-off are applicable. The prelims cleared candidates will attend the mains exam.

IBPS RRB Officer Scale I (PO) : Mains Exam Pattern

  • The mains exam pattern for officer scale I posts will consist of 5 sections in total.
  • Total marks – 200
  • Total time duration – 2 hours (no sectional timing)
  • Penalty for each wrong answer – 1/4th of marks assigned to that question.
  • Candidates should clear both sectional and overall cut-off to get qualified in this exam.

  The IBPS RRB PO prelims is only qualifying in nature and the marks scored in this phase of the examination are not included in the final merit of the candidates. Those who qualify the prelims are shortlisted for the mains and those who qualify mains are further shortlisted for Interview.  

Interview Phase for IBPS RRB PO

The marks for the interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview for Probationary Officers will be as per extant guidelines. Only by qualifying both in the Online Examination (Main/Single) and Common Interview with sufficiently high marks will candidates be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process.

IBPS RRB Interview Round

  • Candidates who clear the main examination for the RRB exam are eligible to appear for an interview.
  • The minimum marks required to qualify for the IBPS RRB interview is 40% (35% for reserved candidates).
  • Candidates must check out the interview preparation tips shared by the toppers and experts before appearing.
  • Candidates are selected on the basis of the 80:20 ratio of Mains and Interview.
  • Candidates who qualify for the interview are selected for the provisional allotment process.
  • Post interview, a combined score is generated including the sum of marks obtained in the Main examination and interview.
