What is SBI SO Exam? 

The SBI SO exam is administered by the State Bank of India in order to recruit officers for various specialist categories.  It accepts applications for the position of expert officer (SO) in accordance with openings in other departments. The recruiting process is often carried out for manager positions, however, notifications are also made for senior-level positions. The candidates are selected based on the online tests, followed by interviews. However, shortlisting individuals and then conducting in-person interviews are also sometimes used to recruit eligible candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for SBI Bank Exams:

Educational Qualification:– For SBI PO and Clerk Exams, the minimum educational qualification is any graduate degree. At least a graduate degree from a recognized institute or its equivalent is more than enough.

SBI SO Eligibility: Educational Qualification

·   Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with 60 per cent or above marks.

·   2 years of work experience for a Bachelor’s degree holder and 1 year for a Master’s degree holder.

B.E./ B. Tech along with MBA/PGDM or equivalent degree (as full-time course) with specialisation in Marketing

Circle Defence Banking Advisor

Must be a retired Major General or Brigadier from Indian Army or from comparable ranks from Indian Navy or Air Force.

Manager (Marketing)

·   MBA/PGDBM or equivalent with specialisations in Marketing/Finance.

·   The minimum work experience is five years as an executive in supervisory/management role in the field of marketing of digital and other financial products in a scheduled commercial bank or public sector or listed financial institution/company.

Deputy Manager (Marketing)

·   MBA/PGDBM or equivalent with specialisations in Marketing/Finance.

·   The minimum work experience is two years as an executive in supervisory/management role in the field of marketing of digital and other financial products in a scheduled commercial bank or public sector or listed financial institution/company.

SBI SO Exam Pattern

  • Unlike other exams wherein the candidates must score good marks in every section, specialist’s exam aspirants are required to score better in the professional section. Candidates scoring minimum cut-off are called for the next round, i.e. the interview round.
  • There will be two papers in the SBI SO Online exam.
  • Paper 1 will be conducted for 90 minutes. Candidates will be asked to answer 120 questions from three sections namely, English Language, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude.
  • Paper 2 will have questions related to professional knowledge.
  • The medium of the SBI SO exam is English.

SBI SO Selection Process

The SBI SO selection process generally consists of an online exam which is followed by an Interview.

Step 1: Online Examination

Candidates applying for SBI SO have to clear the online exam which has two papers. Candidates who will clear the online examination are promoted to the next level of the SBI SO examination.

Step 2: Shortlisting

Shortlisting is the next process and is conducted for the candidates who apply for contractual posts.

Step 3: Interview

Those candidates who applied for both contractual, as well as regular posts and who have cleared the online examination, have to appear for the Interview round.
